Okay-so about a year ago I was snooping around online looking for a Britney Spears-ish workout. Apparently this is her exact workout routine she followed when she was in her “prime” (I’m guessing the early 2000’s). I love it…but it takes me forever because I’m so out of shape, but after you…

Eat a big bowl of cookie dough-and yes your still on a healthy tip blog

I WAS ON CHOCOLATE-COVERED KATIE.COM AND FOUND THIS DELICIOUS RECIPE ! IT’S MADE WITH CHICKPEAS… HEAD OVER TO HER SITE FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS!

1 1/2 cups chickpeas (1 can, drained) (250g)

1/8 tsp plus 1/16 tsp salt

tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/4 cup nut butter (You can get away with using only 3 T. If you use peanut butter, it’ll have a very-slight “pb cookie dough” taste, so if you don’t want this, you can sub oil.)

up to 1/4 cup nondairy milk (Start with 1 T, and add more as needed)

Sweetener (add to taste, any sweetener you would like)

1/3 cup chocolate chips

2 to 3 T oats (or flaxmeal) (You can omit, but also omit the milk if you do)

Chocolate-Banana “Ice Cream”

Freeze a banana, then combine with 2 tbsp cocoa powder and blend until smooth and creamy. Dairy-free, 110 calories. But most importantly: frigging delicious, because seriously dudes, bananas and chocolate were meant to be together <3

Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, almond meal, mixed nuts and coconut flakes. Stir in allspice and cinnamon. Add dried fruit and stir until well and evenly mixed. Make sure the dried fruit do not stick together in big batches.
In another bowl, combine canola oil, mashed banana and vanilla extract. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and stir until well combined.

Take a large cookie cutter and press spoonfuls of the batter into it. Remove cookie cutter.

Guess what? The 500 calorie McRib sandwich is back! Hurrah!

Much like the Shamrock Shake, McDonald’s McRib sandwich is a seasonal menu item. Last month it made a grand reappearance. But weird factors are afoot with the McRib and its ingredients; as mentioned on the Hectic Gourmet, things aren’t what they appear to be with this culinary concoction.

First a little history on the McRib: it was introduced to the McDonald’s menu in 1981. The sandwich – consisting of what appears to be a ground pork patty, barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles – was developed by McDonald’s Executive Chef Rene Arend (who also fathered the Chicken McNugget back in 1979). Essentially, the McRib was a sequel to the McNugget: the sandwich was conceived because of the restaurant’s shortage of chickens due to the McNugget’s popularity. After poor sales, the McRib was removed from the McDonald’s menu in 1985. It was reintroduced in 1994 and has stayed on the McDonald’s rotation since as a seasonal menu item.

The McRib has generated a sizable cult following. But then again, so has Scientology – and there’s plenty of factual proof to put you off both of them.

Did you know that the McRib shares many of the same common ingredients as a yoga mat? According toTime, the McRib bun contains azodicarbonamide: a flour-bleaching agent that is most commonly used in the manufacture of foamed plastics like in gym mats and the soles of shoes. Essentially, the McRib could double as a Dr. Scholls foot pad. There’s more: azodicarbonamide is banned as a food additive in Europe and Australia, and is classified as a “respiratory sensitizer” that potentially contributes to asthma. Bon appetit!

But the yoga mat connection is one mere component of the McRib cacophony: the sandwich contains roughly 70 ingredients. Let’s look at the pork patty; it’s actually characterized as a “restructured meat product.” This tends to be comprised of pig heart, scalded stomach and tripe. When cooked together with salt and water, proteins are extracted and act as a form of “glue” that helps keep the reshaped “rib” meat together. Even though the McRib contains no bones, the patty is molded to resemble a miniature rack of ribs.

So if chomping down on a gym mat filled with pig heart and tripe – held together with glue – is your thing, then put on your best country gear and head down to McDonald’s! Hell, it worked for the Flintstones with their glorious Grand Poobah meal. Last one to McDonald’s is a McFossil (let’s hope fossils aren’t another ingredient in the McRib):

4 green bell peppers, tops removed, seeded

1 pound ground turkey

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 cup fresh spinach

1 package of ready rice (I get the 90 sec rice, any flavor, I like rice pilaf)

slices of Colby jack cheese

Italian seasoning to taste

garlic powder to taste

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place pepper in boiling water till tender

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey until evenly brown. Set aside. Heat oil in the skillet, and cook mushrooms, and spinach until tender. Return turkey to the skillet. Mix in garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Make rice

Take peppers out of water

Stuff the pepper.. I like to layer it rice, cheese (just alittle strip not the whole slice), turkey, repeat until filled, then top with the last of the cheese

Bake until cheese has melted, serve with the rest of the rice on the side

yummy !!

What they often get is an increase in visits to the doctor, an increase in prescriptions, sometimes an increase in depression, and often an early death. The human system does not really want comfort, it wants challenge. It wants adventure.

And perhaps we can extend that to all living beings.

Stewart Emery reports a startling experiment done with amoebas. In his book Actualizations, he reveals how two tanks of amoebas were set up in order to study the conditions most conducive to growing living organisms.

In one tank, the amoebas were given ultimate and comfort. The temperature, humidity, water levels, and other conditions were constantly adjusted for ultimate ease in living and proliferation. In the other tank, the amoebas were subjected to rude shocks. They were given rapidly whipsawing changes in fluid level, temperature levels, protein, and every other condition they could think of.

To the total amazement of the researchers, the amoebas in the more difficult conditions grew faster and stronger than those in the comfort zone. They concluded that having things too set and too perfect can cause living things to decay and die, whereas adversity and challenge lead to strength and the building of the life force.

This might also explain why suicide rates in America have always gone down in ties of war. And why in Denmark, where a very comfortable government-run lifestyle is guaranteed to everyone, the suicide rate is the highest in the world.

-An excerpt from Steve Chandler’s, “Reinventing Yourself.”

Get Jogger Stroller Envy

The best thing I bought myself was my jogger, I love it! Im not able to find a sitter everyday so I can go to the gym. And my gym’s day care doesn’t take babies under 6 months. So finding workouts I can do with the boo are my only option. In comes my jogger! I try and go on an hour walk 5 days a weeks! The jogger I have it from baby trend and it was the most affordable travel system, that is a jogger, I could find. It has exceeded all my expectations! It folds up easy, fits in my small compact car, love all the compartments, and my favorite part is that it has speakers! Yes, I can plug in my ipod and then I dont have to worry about ear buds, and wires!** I waited till I found a 20% off babies R us coupon, and got $70 off ! exciting !

Photo

No Artificial Sweeteners

I pickedthis to be my first tip because this is how strongly I feel about how bad these products are. Put down those processed foods that contain them, and those diet beverages, and stop tearing open packages and pouring them into your coffee or tea. These chemicals do not have any business in your body.

At the top of my icky list is ASPARTAME! a little fact about this product it was put in front of the FDA 8 times before it was approved, and with theapproval is accusations of “manipulated” tests and results. Upon ingestion, aspartame breaks down into natural residual components, includingaspartic acid, phenylalanine, methanol,[25] and further breakdown products includingformaldehyde[26] Umm, Even if you dont recognize, any of those chemicals you should know Formaldehyde, They put that in dead bodies. Dead! your alive !
A list of just a few of the recognized symptoms are memory loss, migraines, joint pain, nerve damage, and weight gain. This is a 1 million dollar business and they dont care about your health.
NutraSweet and Equal contain aspartame !Splenda contains small amount of heavy metals, and arsenic. Dont be fooled by fancy advertising showing happy fit people, happy fit people dont put arsenic in there bodies.
If you need your tea to be sweet, or your making a batch of cookies, my suggestion are to use natural healthy sweeteners.
